Artist's Description

A woman is giving birth. She is not an ordinary woman. She is a turquoise blue color. Above her, standing perched on a table with flowers all around is , El Rey de los Pajaros, the Bird King. In Spanish the expression for giving birth, dando luz, literally means "giving light", and is the expression commonly used through native and mestizo Mexican culture for a woman about to give birth. 2016
