This watercolor of two vases, a round and a rectangle clear glass vaase, each with flowers. The rectangular one is bursting with big red and orange blooms and the round one has more petite blue wildflowers.It was done very quickly in the approach of abstract impressionism as presented by Hans Hoffmann in the early 1930's at the Art Students League in New York City.
I am self taught. I have painted fulltime since 2001 , beginning in watercolor. Many images of the first years were done with my eyes closed. This was about being called, or engaged ,by the sense perception that is mindless, free of image . It required listening to this wordless subtle sense and put marks down on the paper without second guessing. Each year until recently I created a series of work that were shown and selected pieces chosen for a print series. I now work mainly in pastel and oil but not exclusively. I see these series as being the building blocks in this process of becoming an artist from the inside out . Lovely and magical, so 'floral' in its bright hues, and at the same time it reminds me of New York City itself, that you mentioned in the description, as it might have looked back in the 1930, or perhaps in the Hollywood movies of that time, the city of jazz music and lights.
